“As you can see, AltoLingua began back in the early 1980s.
Well, that’s when I first started to love languages, at least.

I grew up in a family that loves to read, which had a big influence on me. From an early age, I loved language and the beauty of well-crafted writing.

After all these years, my dad still reminds me about how, as a little girl, I used to wake him up in the middle of the night because I was dying to read stories. I spent many magic nights curled up in his lap, completely captivated by my piles of storybooks.
As it turns out, my love of languages has only grown with time.”

Swedish to English

Tanya was born and raised in Australia and has
loved languages ever since she was small.

During her travels to six continents, Tanya has learnt English, Swedish and Japanese as well as phrases in a dozen other languages, including Swahili and Mandarin.

Even so, English will always be the language closest to her heart and remains her greatest passion.

Tanya has worked as a professional Swedish-English translator, proofreader and copyeditor for ten years. She is one of only a small number of translators authorized by Swedish government agency Kammarkollegiet.
